Working hand in hand with Pao Cafe, CDA shaped the project from its earliest stages, developing a holistic branding strategy and visual identity that captures the soul of the brand. Our creative direction aims to express Pao’s unique narrative within the coffee culture landscape, intertwining the sensory rituals of traditional brewing with a modern design language. The result is an identity that feels both rooted and contemporary, inviting people to experience coffee not just as a drink, but as a meaningful beginning.
OPPORTUNITY
As Pao steps into a dynamic and competitive market, the brand seeks a strong and memorable identity that reflects both authenticity and modernity. This recognition is essential not only to establish presence but also to connect meaningfully with a new generation of coffee enthusiasts who value culture, creativity, and personal expression.
Inspired by the everyday sounds that carry the essence of life and Vietnam’s unique culture, “Pao” echoes like the drip of coffee from a phin filter, the clink of ice against a glass, the tap of a keyboard, and even the spark of a new idea.
We see “Pao” as a steady, awakening rhythm a conversation that is not loud but profound. It is the sound of new ideas and beginnings, resonating with young, passionate individuals who are slightly ambitious and ready to embrace their journeys.
LOGO DESIGN
The logo embodies a powerful beginning through movement and the division of space. The sound of a new start is amplified by its lines, evoking a sense of dynamism and breakthrough while reflecting the connection and interplay of elements like small yet steady steps along a journey of growth. Beyond form, it represents a visual rhythm that inspires momentum, encouraging both individuals and the brand to embrace creativity, resilience, and forward-looking energy.
GRAPHIC SYSTEM
The graphic system of Pao is built on a harmonious palette of Ivory White, Earthy Orange, Coffee Beige, and Deep Blue, creating a balance between warmth, sophistication, and modern vibrancy. This color scheme reflects both cultural depth and contemporary spirit, making the brand approachable yet distinctive. Typography combines Unbounded for bold, expressive headlines with Nunito Sans for clarity and readability in body text. Together, they form a cohesive identity that is dynamic, approachable, and rooted in authenticity.
VISUAL MOTIFF
Inspired by the rhythmic strokes of the Vietnamese Quốc Ngữ script, the graphic system draws on the “resonance” embodied in the logo, delicately combined with Vietnamese punctuation marks to create a distinctive, energetic, and culturally rich motif. This approach not only highlights national identity but also transforms typography into a dynamic design language. By celebrating both tradition and innovation, the system brings vibrancy and originality, enabling Pao to stand out while sparking meaningful connections with a new generation of coffee enthusiasts.
APPLICATION
Pao Cafe’s brand identity is seamlessly extended across key offline touchpoints, from staff uniforms and aprons to coasters and takeaway cups. The consistent use of logo, color palette, and graphic elements creates a unified and professional presence while adding vibrancy to daily interactions. Each item becomes a carrier of the brand’s spirit, ensuring customers experience Pao not only through taste and aroma, but also through carefully crafted visual details that leave a lasting impression.

Pao Cafe’s identity also thrives in the digital space, where its dynamic graphics, typography, and color system bring energy and consistency to online platforms.
